Hey guys, so I decided to check out what the prices were with the new intuos 4s. I'm specifically looking at the medium ones right now (6 x 9) and Futureshop has them listed for $549.99 CND and I'm guessing that's how they'll be priced at most commercial locations.

So, I talked to the guy from Memory Express in Calgary and we can get the medium intuos 4s through special order for $469.99 CND, but the price depends on the economy cause they'll change the price in accordance to CND versus the USD.

Hit me back with what you guys think? Cause we'll have to put in an order as soon as we can so that I can pick them up and bring them back in the next few weeks??

Friendly Stress Reminder

Hey guys, this is just a reminder that we need FINISHED, COLORED, GORGEOUS scenes by tuesday evening or wednesday morning at latest because we have to composite everything on wednesday afternoon and get our binder ready for submission.

Speaking of which, Chelsea, do you want me to put a storyboard version of our leica reel together and print it off? I finish my panel tomorrow so I can work on the binder at night.

PILLOWFITE

So I ran into Sterling today while in Downtown Vancouver. I convinced him that releasing some stress by smacking people with pillows was a good idea. He proceeded to Sears to purchase a pillow. Fight ensued and pictures were taken.

I didn't know my landlord could open my door while I napped to let in a plumber that would destroy my bathroom and set up a barricade in front of my room.

Backgrounds - Final look

These aren't the final backgrounds (hopefully) but this is how they will be layed out. They should give you an idea of how to frame your shots. If and when we make the final animation, ideally some of these will be remade for higher resolution and details. However, I like how watercolours work on these backgrounds. Should all of them be made in watercolour or just some? I understand that some of you may want to do your own backgrounds to fit the character of your scene, so post in the comments what your thoughts are.

Suitable for viewing by persons of all ages. Occasional violence, swearing and coarse language, and the most innocent of sexually suggestive scenes and nudity, are permitted in this category.

In lieu of this, we can show the guns, tanks, etc as long as their use doesn't portray explicit violence. So as long as brendan's pistol or the tank doesn't fire, we should be good.

Alright- so I did a bunch of pose sketches for the enchanted scene (so top to bottom) and the original sketch of her is at the top (bad scan, I know). Basically she reaches up for a bird, turns around, notices Argyle man in shock, then curiosity, then loving, then goes for a smootch AND WHAM-OH gets in the face (those poses I havn't done yet). So yeah, any feedback- let me know, otherwise there WILL be a completed pose/animation done for monday.

So I have my hands on the first draft of the instrumental track of the melody. This is vocal-less, so it might not sound too much like the melody Steph posted, YET. Since the melody Steph posted was the vocal track, we all assumed.

Vancouver Here I Come (Again) ???

Sooooo, I've been deliberating, pretty much since the day I arrived back in Scotland, coming back to Vancouver in the summer for a visit! For two or three weeks maybe. Before I went ahead and booked any flights though, I was wondering when exactly everyone would be around in the area. I know we all live fantastic jetsetting lives and I'd hate to turn up and for no one to actually be around in Vancouver... So, I was thinking of coming mid to end of June, after the Annecy festival, or end of July/start of August depending on whether or not Carrie from second year animation is coming over to Edinburgh for exchange at that time.

Also, I was going to take a gamble and not book any official accomodation. Mainly because I'm sure my old flatmates would put me up, but also I thought it would be an interesting experience couch surfing for a few weeks, if people were willing to put me up...

Anyway, if anyone is interested in seeing me (*nervous laugh*) then let me know when you'll be around in the summer and I'll do my best to join you in beautiful Vancouver! :D

avid doesn't have a key anymore, so that requires at least one person to stay at home. Sucks. And it makes me feel like a burden on eeeeveryone. But at least I am getting my own place VERY soon. (Speaking of which, I kinda wanna ask you for some help regarding moving, Steph... Paid dinners wherever you want, included...)

But it's not like I haven't been doing any

thing. I've been drawing a lot regarding characters that I should be drawing. I've thought about it and since the scenes were divided as Carmen - Action, Chels - Disney (I think?), Sterling - Monster, that left Mummy and Horror up. I thought I'd try out the Horror scene since I personally think Steph would pull off the Mummy scene much better.

I'm currently working on the voluptuous victim right now, but I have a couple of design ideas for our masked murderer. Tell me what you think.

There are two little doodles of him, one of them has a... different... kind of outfit. I gave him an apron and some dish washing gloves. I was kinda thinking like... scorned dishwasher at a restaurant kinda dealeo. The one on the right is just more of a typical, everyday murderer design, using Sterling's doodle as reference. Plain white tee and jeans probably. With hair that is just as practical. Anything to add? Anything to edit?

I am thinking maybe the fun outfit would leave the audience thinking "WTF?" too long, lingering on why he is wearing that. But who knows? Maybe the one on the right DOES get the point across in a more direct way? I dunno. You guys tell me!

So... One of my roommates moved out today. And my other roommate and I can't really handle finding a roommate this quickly, and maybe paying for the additional room ourselves. Not to mention all the bills were under his name and blah blah blah...

So...

I have to move out by April 1st. One month of school homeless.

Hahah, I kid. I'll find a place somehow, I'm a big boy. I'll manage. What I'm wondering however, is how many of you are dead serious about finding a place together?

Toni? Steph? Chelsea? I'd ask Sterling, but he doesn't use this blog...

I found a pretty cool place in Kerrisdale that opens up on May 1st, but that's the day that Toni comes back... The thing is, it's 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, is furnished, looks spacious, is near a #16 bus, and if we divided it 4 ways, rent would come out to less than $500 a person...

Okay folk, I know I haven't updated my blog in a zillion years and whatever, but I have a favour to ask of you guys back home!

What with talk of your project development class for the grad animation thingy, I am starting to wonder like hey, maybe I should be doing something like that while I'm over here as well? Or at least thinking about it. I am not even sure how far most people in the class have taken their ideas, whether it's just brainstorming or full-on storyboarding.

I've tried e-mailing Martin, but I haven't gotten a reply yet, so I can only assume that he has DIED. But it'd kind of be good to know, like, the extent of development and preparation I am expected to have in order to not be incredibly, incredibly behind.

If you guys know, or if you happen to bump into Martin's corpse at school, please satiate my curiosity. BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

All The Way From The Bonnie Isles!

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey guys! So after re-setting my password after being able to forget it in the space of a week, and after following all the links and terms and conditions and blah dee blah I finally managed to find my way here!

I guess I've been keeping in contact with a couple of you guys over facebook but this feels nicer, I like it here in this little corner of the internet, so I guess I'll let you all know here how it's been going here across the atlantic.

Well, Chelsea gave me a lowdown of her general schedual (i.e.: 5 animation assigmants, 2-way dialogues :O:O:O:O:O!!!) and I don't know whether to be envious or not. For the next three weeks I've to animate an 8-10 second sting for the eca grad show in June, attend one two-hour lecture once a week on the history of animation (including a talk on anime in week 4, woop woop!) a four hour life drawing class and... that's it. I feel rather redundant, I have more free time than I know what to do with and no Darran-like tutors to fill my little head with fantastic animation knowledge. Granted I've lots of time to hang out with my friends here but I do kinda miss that desperately full schedual I had back at Emily Carr. And all you guys as well :(
Chelsea told me of the people in her colab group, it made me a wee bit sad cause I would love to have been in amongst you all for that :(

But its not all bad, the sting is fun to do and I have the time to enjoy doing it and at the end of the day its good to be home. Still, you guys gotta keep me in the loop, so we can compare footnotes and all that jazz! Oh and Toni, you gotta let me know how the deep south is treating you :P

Thats about all Ive got to update you guys with just now, you all have fun and dont stress too hard!

So TONI. Sterling, Steph, Chels, Carmen and I are in a group for Collab. Anim. Promises to be a fun tiem, and we're all super excited about it. I can't wait to see what this will turn out like, because i've never been excited for an assignment like this before.

Also. I gots R4, Toni. And Steph and I played Crystal Chronicles together and it was superfuns. Steph was tanking it up as the swordsie, and I was shooting arrows, sometimes at her.

You need to make a Euro Post soon.
